Robert Lyn Nelson

Hit a whim and rolled down to the Medéa Gallery in San Pedro to meet my buddy Brad. The featured artist was Robert Lyn Nelson, in from Maui. Robert’s work could be described as a fusion of impressionism, neo-cubism, neo-futurism, and other flavors. He’s got quite the list of collectors. (Can you imagine doing a painting for Mr. Spock?)

Had a great time, met some great people, and spilled red wine on myself. Hung out with Robert a bit and talked shop. His favorite artist by far is Picasso. He loves cubism, and his favorite color is blue. Which makes perfect sense, as he does lots of marine work. Right now he’s getting ready to do set of about ten pieces that metaphorically represent Beatles songs. Cool, right?

Oh, and he’s a huge fan of the Twilight Zone and Rod Serling, catching a grip of episodes from the the marathon last week during the 4th. Why doesn’t that surprise me?

Robert! Aloha, brah!
