GMS Kit, NAMM 2006

I wanted to take this home. The pix are blurry, but you get the idea.

8″, 10″, 12″, 14″, 20″ kick with a matching snare. The finish was called “Black Lightning”, which reminded me of the classic “Capri Pearl” finish from the ’50s. It’s black with pearlescent ribbons in it, giving off all colors of the rainbow depending on the lighting situation.

Sounded great. The kick is elevated, which I’ve seen done recently. This is to accommodate the longer pedal beaters, allowing them to strike the center of the drum head. The system either improves the sound of a 20″ drum dramatically, or this thing just sounded good to begin with.
