My favorite part about the Brady Bunch was the incidental music. Some Brady fan’s graciously created a medley on YouTube combining some of these jingles with other audio samples from the show.

Reports show that for every two American combatants killed by enemy action, one more dies by suicide.

The Department of Defense reports that in the last 10 years 4,989 military personnel have been killed in action in Afghanistan and Iraq, while in the same period 2,293 active duty personnel have taken their own lives. American veterans of these and other wars account for 20% of U.S. suicides. The reality is that this country is now facing an epidemic of dire national security and humanitarian consequences as an increasing segment of our military population is turning to suicide.

But why?

Direct causes of this upward trend largely stem from issues of mental health which include traumatic brain injury, post traumatic stress disorder, survivor’s guilt as well as increased drug and alcohol dependency. These are often exacerbated by the transition to civilian life that removes many of the previous support networks of service life.

Prevalent economic issues aren’t helping things, nor is the stigma that comes with seeking out a mental health professional. 43% of military suicides in 2010 were committed by people who never sought help.

Frans Hofmeester filmed his daughter every week, from birth up until she turned 12 years old, then made this time-lapse edit in FCP.

Just watched 2004’s Primer again last night and slept on it. A classic mindfuck. The film’s gained a cult following, and a few people have made some admirable attempts to deconstruct its complicated time-travel-related plot.

First, an excellent diagram via Wikipedia. Click image for larger version. Try not to hurt yourself:

Here’s a dude who’s taken some of these available breakdowns and produced a watchable half-hour demonstration on YouTube:

The entire movie is now available on YouTube. Check it out here, along with a 2005 discussion I had with Andreas.

NOTABLE: Software engineer turned Primer‘s writer/director/producer/actor Shane Carruth has reportedly written another progressive sci-fi screenplay for a film called A Topiary. Looking forward to that.

hitchcockNot bad! The first photo of Anthony Hopkins in makeup from the upcoming feature, ‘Hitchcock’. Looking forward to this one. It’ll be a drama, and takes place during the shooting of ‘Psycho’. The film will also star Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh.

As much as he convinced us it would never happen, Dick Clark has finally died at the age of 82. Rest in peace, kind sir.

Here’s the final episode of the best television game show of all time, from 07/01/1988, with Robin Riker-Hasley and Charlie Siebert:
