The U.S. Army’s K-9 Command War Dog Cemetery at Fort Mac in L.A. provided an incalculable amount of inspiration for Under Angels. I even chose one of these little soldiers to be the narrator for the novel.
The site now has a page dedicated to the hundreds of four-legged heroes who gave their lives in the name of freedom. RIP
