Watch Play Dead, an 18-minute movie about dogs versus zombies
Play Dead is a Kickstarter-funded horror film about a group of canines finding their way through the wreckage of a post-zombie Miami.
After raising almost $6,000, directors Andres and Diego Meza Valdes have now placed the entire 18-minute film online. And even though “Homeward Bound during the zombie apocalypse” sounds ludicrously high concept, this adorable and gory short finds room for heart-rending Old Yeller moments. This is what will happen to our pooches when we’re in the streets, trolling for brains.

A zombie apocalypse unites a ragtag pack of dogs in the ruined streets of Miami. Immune to the epidemic, they must stick together to survive in the midst of ferocious undead and human survivors in this unauthorized sequel to “Homeward Bound.” Sit. Stay. Play dead…
