Terranea price tag

This weekend Milena treated us to Terranea, the new luxury resort built right up the road at the old location of Marineland on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Saturday night, after taking a walk around the grounds, we circled back to the main lounge for some cocktails, munchies, and live jazz. Once we reached the lounge’s courtyard, M grabbed my arm and pointed to the window.

“Oh no! Check it out!”

A party of five people were lounging around a coffee table on the other side of the window.

“That poor girl still has the price tag hanging from her top!”

The situation called for some immediate effort with the camera, but getting a clear shot without being obvious was going to be no easy task. Grabbing a couple chairs on the courtyard-side of the window, I did that whole “pretend to be texting” charade and got my iPhone right up against the glass.

I took a few shots, a couple better than others. Timing was of the essence, with the price tag being most visible during those split seconds when the gal leaned forward so her hair unblocked the tag. After about four takes, the three guys on the opposite side of her circle noticed the sinister cameraman outside the window and began pointing at us. As the blonde turned around, we instinctively got up and fled on foot down the courtyard to nowhere in particular.

We were caught, and we knew it.

Hoping the world would forget who we were with a little time, we spent a few more minutes outside before circling through the lobby and back to the lounge. We found a table near the fireplace, ordered some cocktails and grub, and settled in. After a couple drinks, our server came up to us with a Sierra Nevada accompanied by a very special gift.

“This drink is a gift from the table at the window.”

HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!! OMG!!! We were so caught.

We got up and walked over to the table to thank them for the drink, exchange email info, and laugh about the whole thing. Great times.

Thanks, Maureen!
